This is a distressing article about wind turbines being built in far north NY State - an area that has had a lousy economy for as long as I can remember, and is best known for a record number of prisons per square mile. I'm sure there's a statistic out there somewhere that says the prison population in some of these counties is far greater than the number of permanent residents.
Between wind turbines and prisons - it's a good example of the NIMBY-ism of downstaters in NY; they need somewhere to put unsightly things, and where better than a part of the state where none of them will ever go? I'm sure they all think they're doing the residents a great service. And to some extent they are - but the blessings are mixed to say the least.
